Transport and Community Access services
Vista’s transport service offers a fully wheelchair accessible minibus service to people with sight loss and limited mobility across the City, County and Rutland.
Vista responds to access issues which are highlighted by people with sight loss and other agencies. We offer a service for access audits and can assess environmental accessibility for other agencies and organisations.
Vista actively encourages consultation with visually impaired people on the accessibility of their community, and helps to raise awareness of issues affecting people with sight loss by representing their views on local and national access forums.
Accessing the Built Environment
Vista’s can also support with access to the built environment, such as:
- Physical access to buildings.
- Access to all public transport.
- Clear routes to amenities such as shops, Leisure Centers and other Service Providers.
- Explaining to service providers their duty under the Disability Discrimination Act, which states they must take reasonable steps to provide access to buildings, goods and services.
- Liaising with Local Authorities and Highways to give advice on design and the implementation of physical improvements associated with Pedestrian Crossings, Pavements, A’ Boards, Drop Kerbs and Signage.
