Assessment and Rehabilitation Services

To provide rehabilitation support to visually impaired people in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland in order to promote independence, communication and mobility.

What is Vista’s Assessment and Rehabilitation Service?

An assessment from Vista Rehabilitation team can help to identify any problems, needs or requirements you may have following your loss of vision.

What can I expect from an assessment?

The Rehabilitation Officer will propose a personalized plan of rehabilitation to suit your individual needs. This may include:

  • Aids to daily living
  • Orientation and mobility training
  • Advice and training on staying independent
  • Access to follow up services
  • Access to our Advice and Information Service
  • A wide range of Voluntary Services
  • Referral to outside agencies

Registration

Registration means having your name added to a list of people who have a permanent sight loss. In this area the register is kept by Vista on behalf of the three local authorities, Leicester City, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Registration opens the door to the statutory services provided by Vista on the local authorities’ behalf, some of these services include:

  • An assessment from a member of Vistas Rehabilitation Team who will provide you with a personalised plan of rehabilitation
  • Aids to daily living
  • Advice and Training on staying independent
  • Access to follow up Services
  • Access to our Advice and Information Service
  • A wide range of Voluntary Services

Registration card

Vista will issue you with a nationally recognised card. This can be a useful proof of identity helping you to obtain benefits and concessions as a registered blind or partially sighted person.
