Befriending SchemeWhat is Vista’s Befriending Service?
Vista's Befriending Scheme is available for people who are blind and partially sighted and in need of some low level support at home or other suitable location. Our Befriending Service helps to reduce social isolation and loneliness as well as offering a friendly face on a regular basis.
What is a Befriender?
A Befriender is a volunteer who receives training and ongoing support. Vista carries out the relevant checks on them to ensure your safety. Some examples of what our Befrienders do are:
How often will a Befriender call?
This is your service and everybody’s needs are different so the frequency of when a Befriender calls is dependent on your requirements and the availability of the person who is befriending you. The frequency of visits will be agreed at the initial meeting.
Can I be a Befriender?
The answer is yes, we are always looking for more and more volunteers who would like to participate in the role of a Befriender.
Testimonials"We have a great laugh and laughter is the best medicine" "It's my only chance to get out and about into the wider community"
If you are interested in joining our team of Befrienders please contact Vista on: 0116 249 0909 stating that you would like more information about being a Befriender. |
