Vista's befriending service held their annual Health, Wellbeing and Lifeskills Day at The Warning Zone in Leicester.

New for this year, the event featured a tour around the interactive learning zones based on real life situations. These included personal safety, fire risk in the home and risk around water.

In the E safety zone, visitors could learn about being online and keeping safe. Our new Digital Buddy service enabled visitors to bring their laptop, phone or iPad to help with using digital technology and to get any advice or information about the service.

The event aimed to celebrate the importance of good health, as well as providing information on support and services from a variety of local wellbeing organisations. Over 30 organisation attended the event including the Police, Fire services, Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, the Royal British Legion plus many more. Free taster sessions including Indian head massages, skin care and make up, and personal styling from John Lewis staff were all successful at the event.

Carol Hill, Befriending Officer, said “The day was a great success with fantastic feedback. Many people with sight loss received advice and support from organisations they hadn’t been in contact with before.”
