Transport and Community Access Services

 Vista's transport fleet

Vista Transport

To enable visually impaired people with poor mobility to access Vista’s social groups, activities, outings and classes. The service is fully wheelchair accessible, and operates across City, County and Rutland. Contact the Transport Department for more information on 0116 249 8808.

Vista's Access Department

Our Access Department responds to access issues which are highlighted by visually impaired people, Vista staff and other agencies. We can supply access audits and assess environmental access for other agencies and organizations when required. We actively encourage consultation with visually impaired people on the accessibility of their community, and raise awareness of issues by representing Vista on local and national access forums.

Built Environment

Vista access department can also help with access to built environment, such as:

  • Physical Access to buildings.
  • Access to all public transport.
  • Clear routes to amenities such as shops, leisure centres and other service providers.
  • Explaining to service providers their duty under the DDA, which states they must take reasonable steps to provide access to buildings, goods and services.
  • Liaising with Local Authorities and Highways to give advice on design and the implementation of physical improvements associated with pedestrian crossings, pavements, A’ Boards, drop kerbs and signage.
