This is a service for people who are registered as blind or partially sighted. It provides assessments and individual programmes of reablement and support, including the provision of equipment where appropriate.
The reablement service supports blind and partially sighted people with getting out and about independently - this is called mobility.
The service also provides communication support using large print, braille and audio formats, to ensure that people can communicate and access their own mail and personal information. Assistive technology and equipment can also be provided to enable people to carry on with daily tasks like cooking and cleaning as well as helping people to maintain their independence to continue with hobbies and leisure interests.
Additionally, support from Vista's Assessment and Visual Impairment Rehabilitation can include attending a 3 day course to learn about sight loss. Here people can share personal experiences and get helpful tips and learn new techniques to help to complete everyday tasks. This team can also provide information and signposting about other services which are available.
Vista's reablement service is available to people who have a registered sight loss at any time.
You will then receive an assessment from Vista’s Rehabilitation team where they can help to identify any problems, needs or requirements that you may have following your sight loss.
If you have a registration assessment ,Vista will issue you with a nationally recognised card which can help you to obtain some benefits and concessions as a registered blind or partially sighted person.
