Jean's Story

Jean Voller has spent much of her life supporting people with visual impairments.

She worked as an Orthoptist in the NHS for 43 years, including 21 years as Head Orthoptist at Leicester Royal Infirmary, where she worked closely with Vista and saw first-hand the difference the charity makes for people and families living with sight loss.

When Jean retired, she chose to continue that connection by volunteering with Vista’s Children and Young People services. She also now serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Jean knows how important this support is locally.

As she says in this video:

“If Vista aren’t here… visually impaired people’s needs are still going to be here, and they will not be met at the level they are now.”

Vista is currently facing an urgent funding crisis. Our emergency appeal is about protecting the support that people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland rely on.
