Lauren's Story

Lauren has been part of Vista since she was six years old.

Growing up with a visual impairment, Vista had the opportunity to meet other young people facing similar experiences, try new things, and build memories that have stayed with her ever since.

One of those memories was a trip to Disneyland Paris organised by Vista for children with visual impairments and their families. It’s something Lauren says her mum would never have been able to organise or afford without that support.

Today, Lauren works at Vista herself as part of the digital team, helping people learn how to use phones, computers and other technology through sessions like Tech Together.

Vista has been part of Lauren’s life for many years, and she knows firsthand how important that support can be for people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

We’re incredibly grateful to Lauren for sharing her story as part of our emergency appeal.

Right now, Vista is facing an urgent funding crisis. This appeal is about protecting the support that people in our community rely on every day.

If you can, please consider donating to help secure Vista’s future.

If we cannot raise enough funds and are forced to close, any funds raised will be redirected to a charity with similar aims.

She is dressed in a yellow and black striped cardigan over a black t-shirt. As Lauren speaks, the video cuts to footage from a trip to Disneyland Paris, showing moments from the visit. The video also includes clips from Vista’s Tech Together sessions, where people are learning how to use phones, computers and other technology with support from Vista staff.]
