Sarah, Evie and Sophie's Story
When Sophie started experiencing sight loss, her family didn’t know where to turn.
Her mum Sarah reached out to Vista while they were still trying to understand what was happening and what support might be available.
Through Vista, they’ve been able to speak to people who understand what they’re going through and meet other families in similar situations. Sophie has also been able to take part in activities, alongside her sister, Evie, and spend time with other children with visual impairments.
For Sarah, knowing there is support locally as Sophie grows up could make a huge difference, especially when it comes to things like cane training and habilitation in the future.
We’re really grateful to Sarah, Evie and Sophie for sharing their story as part of Vista’s emergency appeal.
Vista is currently facing an urgent funding crisis. This appeal is about protecting the support that families across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland rely on.
