How we can help
If you’ve recently found out that you have a visual impairment, you might be feeling overwhelmed, unsure where to turn, or worried about what comes next.
Vista is here to support you.
We work with people of all ages in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland who are blind or partially sighted. Whether your sight has changed gradually or suddenly, or you are supporting someone with a sight loss we’ll help you find the right support at the right time.
You are not alone
Everyone experiences sight loss differently. That’s why our services are shaped around you.
We can support you to:
Stay independent
Our team can meet you in the eye clinic at the hospital, help you understand your diagnosis, and support you with things like low vision aids and mobility training. If you’d like to learn how to use a cane or get around more confidently, we’ll help with that too.
Feel more connected
We know how important it is to talk to others who understand. You can join local meet-ups, take part in community activities, or use our online forum to share your experiences.
Look after your wellbeing
You can call our helpline for advice or just to talk things through. If you’d like help using technology, our Tech Together service can show you how to use devices to shop online, read messages, or stay in touch with family and friends.
Get support for your child
If you are the parent or carer of a child or young person aged 0 to 24 with a visual impairment, we offer family events, play sessions, and advice to support you all.
How to access Vista’s services
To access most of our services, you’ll need to have a Certificate of Visual Impairment (CVI). This is a formal document from an eye specialist that confirms your level of sight loss.
If you’re not sure whether you have a CVI, or how to get one, we can talk you through the process.
