Coming to terms with changes to your sight and hearing can feel overwhelming. You may be facing practical challenges, emotional adjustments or both. Vista is here to help you stay active, connected and in control.

Personalised support

Our Deaf (Rutland) and Deafblind Reablement Service is a short-term, intensive programme designed for people with dual sensory loss or hearing loss. It focuses on building independence through practical skills and specialist communication support.

Our highly trained team will work with you to:

  • Build confidence using communication methods that suit you
  • Improve your mobility so you can get out and about safely
  • Stay connected with your community and the people around you

We’ll create a support plan that’s tailored to your needs and goals, whether that’s getting out for the first time after lockdown, learning a new route or reconnecting with a favourite hobby.

“I went to the National Memorial Arboretum with my Communicator Guide support... I’m really looking forward to many more outings. Thank you so so much – you really did your job perfectly.” — Service user

We can also offer training and guidance for your family or carers, so they feel more confident supporting you in your day-to-day life.

Community Support Service

If your needs go beyond short-term support, we can help arrange a Community Care Assessment through your local authority. This will help identify what ongoing support might work best for you.

Vista’s Community Support Service offers longer-term, personalised help based on your interests and goals. This might include:

  • Helping you attend social groups or events
  • Supporting you at appointments
  • Providing accessible communication so you don’t miss important information
  • Helping with travel and getting around safely

Our support workers are trained in a range of communication methods, including:

  • British Sign Language (BSL)
  • Deafblind Manual
  • Clear speech and lip reading
  • Pictorial and symbol systems

This service can be included in your support plan and funded through personal budgets, direct payments or self-funding.
