Have you ever felt frustrated at inaccessible communications, or ever had a great idea you wanted to make a reality? Well, this might be the opportunity for you. At Vista we want to put people with lived experience of sight loss at the heart of all we do, including our fundraising and communications. That’s why we have created Future Vision.
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to contribute lived experience, insight, and feedback to help shape the charity’s fundraising and communications, ensuring they are inclusive and effective and reflect the sight loss community across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Purpose of Role:
To share your experiences, ideas and honest feedback to help the charity make its fundraising and communications more accessible, inclusive and engaging for people affected by sight loss across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Your insight will help ensure that the charity’s messages and materials reflect the voices of people with lived experience.
What you will do:
- Bring your lived experience, insight and constructive feedback to inform and shape the charity’s fundraising and communications activities, ensuring they are inclusive, impactful, and representative of the sight loss community living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
- Have the opportunity to take part in occasional focus group sessions (online or in person).
- Review and provide feedback on fundraising and communications ideas, plans and materials.
- Share personal perspectives to inform storytelling and donor engagement.
- Collaborate with staff, volunteers and other members to improve accessibility and representation.
- Respect the confidentiality of any materials shared for discussion
- Uphold the values and mission of the charity.
What you will bring:
- Lived experience of sight loss. This may include as a family member or as a medical professional.
- Willingness to share insights and collaborate.
- Interest in the work of Vista, particularly around raising funds and communications to support our work, or advocacy.
- Openness and ability to communicate respectfully and constructively.
Engagement will be driven by the particular needs of the organisation. There will be no set timetable. Comments and support from the group will be sought on an ad hoc basis from requesting reviewers, inputting into strategic developments, attending workshops or reviewing content.
You can participate in different areas in ways to suit you, including face to face, online, or at home.
You can choose to take part in individual sessions or for a short term (for example, up to 6 months).
Participation is flexible — you can step in and out as your time allows.
Membership is for an initial 12 months with the option for renewal.
