Earlier this year, Stephen Payne (Vista’s Director of Care and Services) brought together Vista leadership and local representatives from optometry, orthoptics and academia to explore how we can enhance vision screening and eye health across LLR.

Following the round-table discussion, Vista have now published a paper which reflects on the conversations had as a part of this session, and the steps Vista want to take to move this agenda forward.

The discussion made clear the many challenges facing people across our area of operation, but it also showed the real potential there is for a collaborative and pragmatic approach to have a positive impact on the lives of young people and their families across LLR.

Following this discussion, Vista have shared six recommendations which focus on the steps our own organisation can take to further champion eye health, alongside the work we feel local partners and commissioners need to undertake.

All of our recommendations are underpinned by the need for strong partnerships. We have to work together as a unified force across LLR to ensure that positive change happens for people with experience of sight loss.

These findings, alongside a summary of the key themes and reflections from the discussion, can be found within the published paper. You can download a copy of this document below. If you need help accessing this document, please email marketing@vistablind.org.uk.
