Emergency Phone Alert 7th September

Published on 29th August 2025

National test of the UK Emergency Alerts system: Sunday 7th September, 3pm

The UK Government will be testing the Emergency Alerts system, which sends warnings and advice to your phone or tablet in life-threatening situations like wildfires, flooding or extreme storms.

What to expect:

Your device may make a loud siren-like sound, vibrate and/or read out the alert, even if it's on silent. This will last for about 10 seconds. The alert will include a link or phone number for more information.

If you are blind, partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing:

Emergency alerts are designed to be accessible. Audio and vibration signals can notify you if accessibility settings are turned on.

You don't need to share your phone number or location to receive alerts. They are sent automatically to all compatible devices.

Please let other people in your networks know so that everyone is aware that this is happening.
