In conversation with local writer Chrissy Payne
Chrissy has lived all her life in Rutland. She’s always had an urge for creative writing but that became even greater when she was hit with what she calls ‘a bombshell’ - a diagnosis of advanced glaucoma.
Chrissy’s memoirs - entitled Memoirs Of A Little 'Un’ - captures her growing up in the 1960’s in a house full of girls. It’s hit a cord across the nation with people of all ages.
She’s been featured on BBC Radio 4 The Today programme alongside Michael Morpungo, Victoria Hislop and Frank Cotteral Boyce as part of a week dedicated to memoirs. You can listen to her ten part podcast free of chart on all major platforms including Amazon, Spotify and Apple.
Vista met up with Chrissy to find out more about how she writes with sight loss. Chrissy movingly talks about about how she feels her writing has been enhanced as her eye sight fades.
Thank you Chrissy for sharing your story and being an inspiration to others living with sight loss!
