Vista Ambassador, Tilly Dowler – aka ‘The Blind Stylist’ from Leicestershire, is setting herself the hardest challenge yet. On 10 June, she’s leading five fellow ‘Blind Summiters’ as they climb Mount Snowden to raise awareness and funds for Vista. Tilly will be hosting a sustainable fashion show at the summit.
Tilly, 26yrs, started losing her sight at 15yrs old due to a genetic condition called Stargardt disease. She was registered blind in 2022 and now has 10% vision.
Tilly, says:
“Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, symbolises the challenges faced by people living with sight loss. Just as we will navigate the mountain's terrain, individuals with sight loss navigate a world that can often feel overwhelming. Vista has been with me every step of the way and this is my way of giving back and supporting others affected by sight loss.”
This ambitious challenge, aptly named 'Sightless on Snowdon’, will culminate in an unprecedented pre-loved fashion show at the mountain's summit. The team aims to demonstrate that style and environmental consciousness can reach extraordinary heights, while raising vital funds and awareness for Vista, the charity that has supported Tilly.
Tilly’s business, Wanted Wardrobe, aims to inspire a broader understanding of what is possible despite disabilities, and is a powerful demonstration of what resilience and camaraderie can achieve.
“'Sightless on Snowdon’ is deeply personal to me," says Tilly. "Vista has been an incredible support, and this climb is a way to give back and show that visual impairment doesn't limit ambition. Combined with our passion for sustainable fashion, we hope to inspire positive change and raise crucial funds for Vista's vital work."
Louise Wright, CEO of Vista, says:
“Tilly is a trailblazer for others living with sight loss. We are so grateful for her ongoing support and will be supporting her all the way to the summit of Snowdon and beyond.”
