Volunteering during Covid-19

Message to our volunteers, during Covid-19

Thank you for showing your support during this uncertain time. We want to make sure that if you continue to volunteer, this is as safe and coordinated as much as possible for you, for Vista and for the people we support. If you are interested in helping out in your community, then please register your interest with us and we can put you in touch with the people we support.

We are encouraging people who are not at risk themselves and are not experiencing any symptoms, to register to support individuals who are at risk and required to self-isolate.

If you have worked in care and have experience in health and social care please get in touch with us we are looking for support across all of our residential care homes. There are many other practical ways you could still offer support that is currently in demand within local communities:

  • Telephone Heroes You could help to keep older relatives, friends and neighbours in touch with each other. A friendly conversation could make a huge difference right now!
  • Digital Heroes You could teach an older person how to Skype and use Watsapp or how to do an online shop, all of which would be very valuable right now

If you know about a local community group, or, an individual needing help, please let us know so we can add them to the list and help support them or find other individuals or partners that can help and support them better.

If you are able to volunteer to provide essential support or are concerned about a vulnerable person in your community please contact our Volunteer Development Manager Rayhana Brydson on 0116 2498843/ 07967799364 or via email: volunteering@vistablind.org.uk and we will be in touch!

Thank you and stay safe.
